This is a second book in the series. You don’t really need to read the 1st book, but an overwhelming of characters may necessitate you to do so.

I read the first book last year, and when I started this one, it took me a few pages to try to remember what the first book was about. This book is not a continuation on the first book, however, it does contain many of the same characters and chronologically happens after the first book, which made it harder to remember what happened in the first book.

Once I got through that, whew, the book was a great read. Occasionally the time-line jumps ahead, it would have been nice to have notification under the chapter numbers of significant jumps.

All that aside, I really enjoyed the story and cannot wait till Ms. Clipston’s next book comes out.
